Brussels Day 12 & 13
as i screamed - like an insane person - for a free t-shirt at the local basketball game, the Belgians did not look amused
Family,
Today is my last full day in Brussels. I think I’ve experienced everything I want to experience. This morning, I got to sit in the Parc du Cinquantenaire under shockingly blue skies and write a thank you letter to my host family.
Here’s what I’ve been up to the past few days:
Had a wonderful Christmas dinner with the Meyers and two Marines from the US Embassy
Got my first taste of Westvleteren Trappist beer
Visited the Musical Instrument Museum in Brussels
Went to a Lueven Bears basketball game (and got a free t-shirt!)
Tried some Ukranian potato dumplings

I’ll be celebrating Christmas with my French host family tonight. They’ve asked me to play piano, which I’m very excited to do - I haven’t had more than an hour at a piano over the last two weeks.
I’ll fly to Zurich (Switzerland) tomorrow, and then observe an ICF rehearsal and services the day after.
I’m sad that my time in Europe is ending, but I’m very much looking forward to being back in the US. At Christmas dinner, Amie talked about how difficult it is to be a missionary in a foreign country without a defined end date. My time here has been so much easier knowing that I’ll be returning to family and friends soon, that this is just a visit rather than a new way of life. My respect for missionaries - like Amie and Ryan, Jack and Brooke - has increased dramatically.
Being here has given me a newfound appreciation of how fortunate I am to live in Colorado, to attend Red Rocks, to be receiving an education from Mines, to be pursuing the Lord, and to be surrounded by people who love me.
Here we go,
Isaac
